If I were to be totally truthful with myself, I would identify as an agnostic. I was when I was in college, and tried to change my beliefs for my wife, who is religious, but I never really believed any of the material I was presented with to read.This book spoke to my beliefs. It identifies what an agnostic is and how they view the world around them. It was well written, easy to read and thoughtful. I would recommedn it tio any person who has doubts about their religious beliefs and especially those that identify as "spiritual but no religious" as I have done for a number of years.

We read this book in a group that I attend and it was a great source of discussion about important themes within our faith community. I want to read other books that she has written. She writes very well and is very thoughtful and funny. A thought provoking book.

This is exactly the type of book I love. It was like a conversation with a friend about ideas and concepts that aren’t part of every day banter. A very timely read as out culture struggles with the concept of religions role in society and the rise of the “spiritual non religious”.

Do you believe in God, yes or no? If someone were to ask me what my spiritual beliefs are in a question like this, it would be impossible to answer. Yet statistics that come from such simplistic, religious polls are often used to reflect what populations believe about the existence of God. Lesley Hazleton has written a thoughtful, respectful book that articulates a perspective other than a binary answer to that question. This is not a book written to convince you to believe one way or another. You will not find answers that eradicate your spiritual doubt nor require you to reject all of your spiritual beliefs. Rather, the author poetically describes the joy that can be embraced in the mysteries and possibilities of not knowing. Critics who hold polarized views on the existence of a religious God may find that they are cut from the same cloth. This book wonderfully represents possibilities for the rest of us who can't answer a solid yes or no to that question.

As a woman who was born in the 90s, being good with my hands is a foreign concept. Intimidating mothers who work, knit and do everything in between reign supreme. Leaving me feeling lacklustre about my skill levels.Attempting to give something new a bash in my want to gain a skill, I took to amazon to find a book on knitting, I bought various books on the subject and found them overwhelming and complicated. Knitting For Beginners: The A-Z Guide to Have You Knitting in 3 Days, is a wonderfully comprehensive book that covers all the elements of learning how to knit. This book breaks down everything from the supplies to will need, to how to knit left handed, which in my case is very necessary.Emma Brown goes into great detail about what yarns to use for which project and how to care for the materials to make it longer lasting, as well as the needle size you should be using and how to hold them correctly. She talks about how to understand patterns and includes a glossary of all knitting terminology as well as step by step pattern guide.This book very cleverly contains every style of knitting, to create interesting pieces that look more complicated than they are. Making you seem like an expert.If you are keen to learn a wonderful and new hobby this comprehensive and easy to use guide is for you. I highly recommend it!

The formatting of the book is well-done. The knitting instructions were well-detailed and usually accompanied with photos. I am a new knitter with very little hand-eye coordination, but I was able to get a few stitches in! The knitting patterns at the end are super cute and the instructions are easy to follow. My cousin is expecting her first-born and I plan to knit her a pair of booties :)All in all, the book breaks down everything you can possibly need to know about knitting for beginners. I highly recommend the book for beginners and those looking to refresh their memories.

This book was great for beginners! While most beginner’s books just give simple patterns to follow, Emma Brown did that and more while still starting all the way at the basics, mentioning important details such as how to hold the knitting needles or how to pick what type of yarn you will need. She also had a great format in that it was easy to read while not at all boring like some other books I have seen discussing knitting for beginners. The colorful illustrations proved quite helpful and were easy to follow. I also enjoyed the fact that she gave a glossary for commonly seen abbreviations, so now reading more advanced knitting books does not seem so hard – this is a great book to refer to. I love that I can even start designing some of my own patterns now. Overall, I highly recommend this book for all knitters who would like to learn some new stitches or patterns, not necessarily just beginners

Let me begin by saying that I borrowed a "beginners" book about knitting from a friend about a month ago that was so confusing that I just gave it up. This book, Knitting For Beginners: The A-Z Guide to Have You Knitting in 3 Days is the exact opposite.I'm going to 3 baby showers before the end of the year. I wanted to make something that was personal, something that I could afford on a budget, and also develop a useful skill. Knitting, I figured, would be the way to go.I will admit that, at first, I was overwhelmed with how much detail this book packs. When it says A-Z Guide, it isn't joking. The photographs, the diagrams, the helpful links to videos and other resources, and the incredibly simple descriptions are exactly what I needed! I cannot stress this enough. I know it probably sounds silly to get super excited about a book on Knitting, but this isn't just a book on Knitting; it's THE book on Knitting.There are a bunch of patterns (from easy to advanced) at the end that you can use to practice the types of stitches you'll learn in the book. The baby blanket and the little hat are the ones I plan on making for the baby showers. I have a friend who wants me to knit him a face mask for Halloween (he works at a Haunted House attraction every year), so I'm really looking forward to doing that, too.The format of the way everything is laid out is simple and easy to understand. Really, this is more of a Knitter's Survival Guide. Seriously, if you're trying to get into Knitting, or you're still new, I would highly recommend this book.

Honestly, one of the worst self-help books I've ever had. I ordered this because I wanted to teach myself how to knit, obviously (I already knew how to crochet). This book is a mess. They teach you in a completely out of order, super illogical way, and they give you almost NO details on different techniques. Right away within the first pages they'll say "perform this maneuver with the yarn," and you have to flip forward through dozens of pages to actually find out what that maneuver is. The step-by-step instructions are extremely vague, and I spent many frustrated hours trying to unlock the meanings behind all of their instructions. Eventually I gave up and just turned to YouTube videos and blogs. 100% more easier than trying to learn from this book. If a young adult with a graduate degree can't figure this out, I would doubt that your average senior citizen can. Save yourself the money (luckily, it was only $5) and learn for free from YouTube/Google, or buy a different book.

My toddler loves the wheels on the bus and she LOVED this book when we got it from the library. The only problem was that the library had the regular book, and toddlers are not very gentle with paper pages. I was hesitant to get the board book because I didn't want an even shorter version with 4 pages (that sort of book gets VERY old to read again and again and again). The good news is that the board book is exactly the same as the original book and my daughter is thrilled. The bad news is that I read this book 5 times in a row tonight.

I'm 39 and I love Pete the Cat, especially this one because I drove a school bus for 10 years.

Compared to other Pete the Cat books, I find this one a bit boring. Not a recommended buy.

My baby loves The wheels on the bus. This one of course, is not the famous song version. It miss the parts of daddy, mommy and baby on the bus. A couple of pages seems kind of the same. Overall, it’s a nice book to have.

My 2 year old loves this book. I think it’s way longer than it needs to be, but she whole heartedly disagrees and that’s what matters. We read it a lot.

My 2 year old is freaking obsessed with Pete the Cat. She loves all these books. The more of them, the better. This one is her favorite because it involves dogs and actions. I have definitely read it 10+ times a day since we got it. She also loves the art style!

My son loves Pete the Cat & this has quickly become a favorite book! We can no longer sing the normal "Wheels on the Bus" song, he specifically asks for the "kitty" version. This book is a cute, fun take on the traditional song.

This was kind of an ingenious extension of the Pete the Cat brand - the premise of the book is that Pete the Cat enacts scenes from the song "The Wheels on the Bus." I don't know what it is about the book, whether it is the illustrations or the song that makes this book so endearing to my kids, but they sing along and point out the dog and have a great time reading this book.I definitely recommend this book, especially for Pete the Cat enthusiasts.

I purchased the ebook The Elements of Style. It has the fourth edition cover, but it's actually the free Project Gutenberg 1st edition, written solely by William Strunk Jr in 1918. It is dishonest for Amazon to sell this; I called customer service and obtained a refund.

This publication of the book is sub par quality. It looks like someone found the text of the original Elements of Style online, copied and pasted it into Word, printed it, and bound it together in a cheap cover. There are even "track changes" edits throughout the book! The formatting is a mess everywhere with large unexplained spaces and gaps. This is truly an unacceptable product and should not even be sold. It is false advertising and I am returning it immediately with a complaint to Amazon.I gave it three stars so people would be more likely to read my review. DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION!! ISBN-13 9781537669649

Don't buy this kindle version, it's full of formatting errors. A shame to see a grammar book trashed like this. I had to ask for a refund. Look somewhere else.

I've read two different editions of this book - I borrowed the 6th? 7th? edition (the one with the blue cover that is expanded) and I own the 3rd edition (which is not expanded). Let me tell you, this slim book packs a powerful punch. I've always struggled with being concise in my writing, and this book is THE book to help you maximize your writing. It should be required in high schools everywhere.Back when I worked for a newspaper, one of my editors was trying to get a review of mine on a particular page, which meant he needed to edit a little bit out ... he came back and told me - I couldn't edit your review. Every word was essential. - YES. Thank you, Strunk & White.

This review isn't to the content of the book, but about the Kindle Edition.The book I downloaded had the cover for the Strunk and E.B. White version, Fourth Edition but was actually the 1920 edition with the wrong cover. So just wanted to give potential readers of this book a head's up that if you want to buy this book on Kindle, do the "Look Inside" preview to make sure the edition matches the cover and description.

First published in 1920, this definitive text on English grammar and composition answers most style questions in approximately 100 pages. There have been countless other efforts since this one, often with hundreds more pages, but none do it better. It answers the basic questions any writer occasionally encounters-comma usage, clauses, paragraphs and construction. Despite the fact it's been nearly 100 years since this book was written, it's never been rendered obsolete. It doesn't matter if your field is business or creative writing, the rules of structure still apply. The English language is imprecise and difficult to master but without understanding the elements of it then properly constructing anything from an email to a thesis or novel will not occur. In these days of emojis and alphabetical shortcuts, we are losing the battle of writing proper sentences but this book, if studied, will remind us of how important the written word is and how to make it understandable. A must read for anyone interested in writing well.

The famous, beloved version of this book is the version by *Strunk and White* (written a hundred years ago by William Strunk and – importantly – updated by E.B. White), and that's what this product is pretending to be (worse, actually, it's pretending to be the version illustrated by Maira Kalman). In fact, the Kindle version presented here was neither updated by E.B. White nor illustrated by Maira Kalman; it's just the old public domain text.
