This book is an absolute necessity for your book collection... and a must read for anyone and everyone who markets and sells things (especially for entrepreneurs), whether you're focused on digital or physical products.After spending well over $13,000 in the past year on online classes designed to teach me online marketing, there was something missing. I've even taken copywriting classes that fell short of what I needed.This book bridges that gap PERFECTLY. If you don't have it, you're missing out.About the only other thing you'll need to set yourself up for successful copywriting/marketing online is DotCom Secrets or Expert Secrets by Russell Brunson. These three books together will give you all the info you need to set you up to be an unstoppable online marketing force.

I bought both of Ray's book before one of his workshops last year. Should've only got one coz they are basically the same book. Same info, just recycled in this edition. If you think you can't live without it buy this version. Other one is much higher & it's literally the same book.. So Seriously, it's nearly word for word. Wasn't that inspired by either.

Meh...not nearly as robust as I had hoped. But this is probably a loss leader and the goal of this book is to drive consumers to their website so basically you are looking at a book sales funnel...maybe if they had better information and more in depth I would have gone to their site and paid for something 🤷🏻‍♂️

Although I have not YET completed the book - I am 1/4 of the way in, and I LOVE IT! Although I am an avid reader non-fiction - especially business related books - have always been very difficult for me to get through. Most business books I have bought seem to require you to "plod through" lots of text to get the actual information you are looking to learn. Not so with How To Write Copy That Sells. The chapters are easy to read, get straight to the business of teaching AND provide accessible summaries at the end of each chapter. I foresee this being a book that lives beside my desk at all times. Thank you, Mr. Edwards, for convincing me that there is at least one business book out there for the likes of me (and if there is one there are surely more). You have given my business a huge boost!PS: can't wait to dig into the free Copywriting Quick Start Training. I just joined today!

Ray has done it again. From a consummate wordsmith - he takes it apart and puts it together again making the mysterious obvious - the unknowable, known.It IS salesy - but your forgive him because he is so passionate, sincere and likable. I'm sold!!

OMG! The best book I have read on email copy writing. Got so many usable tips and new ideas for writing emails that will get a higher response rate. Plus, the tips for calls to action were priceless.Thanks.

I picked this up after hearing folks like Don Miller and Michael Hyatt rave about it. They were right! If you need to write emails, website copy, or any kind of communication that's aimed at helping the reader make a decision to buy (or try), this is the book for you. I found the beginning chapters very helpful, while the later ones didn't produce quite as much value for me. Still, I highly recommend it.

This book has literally changed my impact in the community that I serve! I had results within 24 hours of using the insights within the first 3 chapters.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I bought this book, but it turned out to be a lot like the book Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (P.S.) - only Dr. Wiseman's book is much, much better. Wiseman says that: "Put simply, quirkology uses scientific methods to study the more curious aspects of everyday life. This approach to psychology has been pioneered by a few researchers over the past hundred years who have followed in Galton's footsteps and had the courage to explore the places mainstream scientists avoid."Hopefully the chapters can give you a gist as to what you will find in this book: Chapter 1 - What does your date of birth really say about you?, The New Science of Chronopsychology; Chapter 2 - Trust everyone, but always cut the cards, The Psychology of Lying and Deception; Chapter 3 - Believing six impossible things before breakfast, Psychology Enters the Twilight Zone; Chapter 4 - Making your mind up, The Strange Science of Decision Making; Chapter 5 - The scientific search for the world's funniest joke, Explorations into the Psychology of Humor; Chapter 6 - Sinner or saint?, The Psychology of When We Help and When we Hinder; Chapter 7 - The pace of life and other quirkological oddities, The Future of Quirkology.In short, this is a terrific book. In many respects it shares a lot in common with not only Freakonomics and Superfreakonomics, but also books like Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions (Revised & Expanded Edition),The Mind of the Market: How Biology and Psychology Shape Our Economic Lives,Why We Make Mistakes: How We Look Without Seeing, Forget Things in Seconds, and Are All Pretty Sure We Are Way Above Average and How We Decide. I highly recommend this book and also recommend Wiseman's newest book, 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot (Borzoi Books). I would definitely have given this book 5 starts even if it only had included the chapters on Lying and Deception and The Scientific Search for the World's Funniest Joke - the whole book is hilarious, entertaining and above all, informative. This is a truly great read.

This is a collection of info about oddball tests and studies conducted by psychologists. Much of the information is very entertaining. It's a "good read." However, does the alleged fact that women who drive vans are the most likely to sneak more than ten items through the express checkout in the supermarket really matter? Time after time, while reading this book, I wondered, why would anybody study this. Its fun fodder for talk around the water cooler, but pretty much meaningless. Also, I think some of the conclusions that were drawn from these studies were giant leaps of speculation. The author is an entertaining writer. This is the second book of his that I have read and enjoyed. However, if you are looking for something serious about psychological research, this isn't it. I do recommend this book. I enjoy Wiseman, and will continue to read his books.

I liked this book, but not as much as I thought I would. A lot of the material has been given full length treatments now in similar books. For example, if you want to learn more about the affects of birth order, Malcom Gladwell's Outliers: The Story of Success is a more comprehensive take on it. However, Quirkology does serve as a great introduction to the subject.I love books that deal with this type of behavioral economics or odd psychological principles, but can't seem to get very many others interested in them. If someone asked me for a recommendation on the subject now, this would be one of the top two I would suggest to them. It's fast paced, packed with information, and can easily lead to more reading. There was definitely some new information here, but not as much as I expected.Some of things I learned include what drawing a Q on your forehead means about your lying ability, whether people would wear a sweater once owned by a mass murderer, and how to double your panhandling intake with one phrase. There is a ton of information here, and its really great stuff. Well worth your time.

Richard Wiseman is an experimental psychologist and professor of "public understanding of psychology." In this book, he discusses dozens of experiments performed by himself and other psychologists around the world over the course of the last hundred years. All these experiments have in common is unusual research methodology or amusing results.Each experiment is described in as little as a paragraph, or as much as a chapter. Old favorites like the Milgram "Obediance to Authority" experiments make an appearance, and some of the recent experiments discussed got a lot of press ("what is the funniest joke in the world"), but most of the content will be new to most readers.Topics include studies of personal ads and pickup lines, determining which are most effective, how to detect liars, manifestations of prejudice and hypocrisy (are religious people or priests more honest or generous than others? it has been tested). Wiseman even ran tests to see which experiments in the book are the most interesting, to help the reader know what would be the best conversation starters at parties.Unusually for a mass market book, it is copiously footnoted.

I enjoy books of this genre and this was no exception. Much of the material here has been written about in other books, nevertheless, this was enough of a twist that I enjoyed it.Highlights: good tips on writing personal ads and what happened when a "Chinese gentleman" called hotels all over the country for reservations some 70 years ago. The answer might surprise you.
